Parliaments of the World
Almost every country has a distinct name for its national legislature, and matching the name to the country is a very common LAT/CSS-style question. The trick is that many names sound similar (Riksdag vs Rikstag vs Riksgag) or the same name-pattern repeats with different countries as distractors, so precision matters more than recognition.
South Asia:
- Pakistan β Majlis-i-Shoora
- India β bicameral: Lok Sabha (lower house) and Rajya Sabha (upper house)
- Bangladesh β Jatiya Sangsad (unicameral)
- Afghanistan β Loya Jirga
- Nepal β National Panchayat
- Bhutan β Tshogdu (unicameral)
- Maldives β Majlis
- Sri Lanka β Parliament (referred to in exams as 'Sansad' when paired with Indonesia as a distractor β actually 'Sansad' is Indonesia's parliament, a common trap)

- China β National People's Congress
- Myanmar β Pyithu Hluttaw
- Uzbekistan β Oliy Majlis
- Tajikistan β Majlis

Study tip: Group Scandinavian/Nordic countries together (Storting=Norway, Folketing=Denmark, Riksdag=Sweden) since their names look alike, and separately memorize the Sanskrit/Arabic-rooted names (Majlis appears for Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Maldives, and Sabha appears for both houses of India's parliament) since exams frequently swap these among each other as wrong answers.
